At Analog:Shift, we constantly champion vintage sports watches — divers, pilot’s watches, field watches, and many more. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t room in our hearts for a more contemporary take on a sports luxury timepiece.
These days there’s a wide swathe of offerings whose aesthetic simplicity belies their forward-thinking materials, advanced movement technology, and impressive feature sets. The Hublot Classic Fusion Black Magic Ceramic is one such watch.
Known for its use of innovative materials and some very avant-garde design language, Hublot finds home for its historically-inspired designs within the Classic Fusion line. (Though, to be fair, the maison was founded only in 1980, meaning even its “classic” designs are relatively contemporary!) This particular example is the 42mm Titanium King Gold Ceramic, and is an excellent example of a contemporary take on their original Classic Fusion models from their early days.
Executed in two-tone titanium and rose gold, this piece is set on the classic Hublot rubber strap with H-screw integration. The bezel is executed in rose gold with exposed H-screws providing the utilitarian appeal that this watch is known for.
The dial is a dark charcoal gray with tone on tone matching date wheel. The faceted indexes and hands are executed in rose gold with matching dial text to complete the watch’s theme. These rosy refinements match the signed Hublot rose crown. The clasp reinforces the two-tone theme of the case, with a rose gold central band affixed with two screws, and a titanium body and folding clasp arm.
Powered a self-winding movement and completed with sapphire crystals front and back, this piece is accompanied its factory goodies including its complete inner and outer box set!
If your preferences lean more towards classier design cues, and you've been on an endless road of Hublot curiosity, this Hublot Classic Fusion has got to be on the shortlist!
